Obama is not what Dr. King envisioned

In his I Have a Dream Speech Dr. King said, "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." As of Tuesday night November 4, 2008 this dream is still unrealized. In the weeks and days leading up to the election, I tried to listen to as many people as I could concerning why they were voting for Obama. In the overwhelming majority of the responses the answer was because Obama is black!

I thought this election was not about race? Turns out it was. Those who voted for Obama simply because he is an African-American are as guilty of racism as those who voted against him for the same reason. They have become the very thing that Dr. King was trying to avoid. Anyone who knows what Obama actually stands for understands that he is the antithesis of everything the Founders promoted through the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and the Federalist Papers. The Founders believed in small limited government--Obama thinks government should be as big as you can get it. The Founders believed in a capitalistic society--Obama thinks socialism is the way to go. The Founders believed that citizens had the right to possess their own guns--Obama wants to take your guns away, including ammunition used for hunting. The Founders believed in the concept of Life--Obama will not stand up for the unborn even after an abortion is botched. The Founders believed that war was necessary in order to correct the evils of illegitimate rulers--Obama thinks that he can talk his way out of conflict.

Congratulations America!! The world is rejoicing with you!! By the way, did anyone else besides me wonder why Iran was celebrating Obama's win? Congrats to America! You have elected a man who attends a racist church. You have elected a man who claims to be a Christian but does not accept the truth of John 14:6 nor the biblical truth that homosexuality is a sin.

You have elected a man who's party in 2004 ignored the banking industry's pleading that its banks were in trouble and they painted those who tried to warn them as trying to hold a lynch mob (which led to the $700 billion bailout). You have elected a man who has connections to KNOWN TERRORISTS during a time when we are trying to fight terrorists. You have elected a man who in previous times has sided with the enemies of Israel. You have elected a man who has accused our troops of "raiding villages and killing innocent civillians." You have elected a man who supports the Fairness Doctrine which could make it a crime for a church to preach against homosexuality and abortion. Essentially it would make it difficult to preach the gospel.

So...congrats to all you who voted for the most liberal and inexperienced candidate in the history of America. Obama talks about change well...change is certain to come. It will mean change for our churches and believers. It will mean change in the Constitution as the very bedrock principles of our free market society are put to shreads. It will also result in a change in our nation's morality as we drift even further to the left to an ammoral society. It will result in the change of First Amendment rights. Ultimately it will result in the change of a more socialistic society. Hard working Americans who employ other Americans and provide the backbone for the economy will be taxed more than they can afford which in turn means that many Americans will lose their jobs. Thus the very people Obama campaigned to help will be the ones that ultimately suffer the most.

Change is definately in the air, but I'm not sure the majority of Obama supporters are going to like it when it happens. With all the immorality and post-modern relativism that encompasses our nation today, I can not help but believe that Obama's election is further evidence that the "strong hand of providence" of God that George Washington talked about many years ago concerning the reason behind America's founding, is slowly being removed. When God's protective hand is removed from our nation...that should scare us but it should also cause believers to stand strong, keep your faith, and relish in the fact that regardless of who the president is the Lord is still in control.

First of all... some people actually agree with some of the things Obama stands for. That's the beauty of this country: not everyone believes the same things, and unfortunately for you the majority of voters Tuesday decided they'd rather have Obama as their next President. You are also forgetting that Obama does not run the country by himself but will need support from the Senate and House (you know, it's called a check-and-balance). And if you knew anything about the government you'd realize that even though Obama is a Christian, as a government official he cannot base anything off of his religion due to the part in Amendment One stating we have "Freedom of religion". You cannot force your religious beliefs onto anyone, especially when you're a government official! Just stop being overdramatic and acting as if the entire world is going to crash because you don't agree with our next President..

Interesting reply. The fact that Obama is President-Elect is not a personal problem for me. Neither is the fact that I am in the minority of voters. The freedom of having diverse opinions is indeed a great thing. I wonder however if there is any room in your diverse opinions for people who voted for Bush, for those who would vote for him again if they could, and for those who believe he is right on the issue of the war on terror???
My hope and dreams were not dependent upon John McCain winning the election (unlike most Obama voters). If not for Sarah Palin, I would have been less supportive of McCain. Anyway, the things that Obama stands for....many of which I outlined in the blog. I believe in absolute truth and in the fact that you can be absolutely wrong. The Holocaust for example was absolutely wrong. Of course Obama's views are not anywhere close to that nor do I even hint that to be the case. But many of the things he promotes have been proven to be wrong and are wrong from a biblical standpoint (of which I can faithfully speak). My main gripe about Obama is that he claims that many of his views are formed by his beliefs concerning the Bible. If he is going to throw theology around, then I am going to correct him when he is incorrect.
Obama left to himself is not that bad. I am aware that we have 3 branches of government, unfortunately Obama thinks that the Judicial branch is supposed to legislate from the bench not interepret what the law says. I think I learned back in elementary school that the role of the courts is to interpret the law??? I am very much aware of checks and balances, but where is the check in a liberal president and a liberal congress? You got it...the courts. But Obama's court (if he has the opportunity) will be dramatically left. This talk of him being a centrist president is nonsense..he is a radical and will always be one.
I do know quite a bit about the government and I am very much aware of what the Lemon Test is. His freedom of religion means that he can form and shape his opinions based upon his faith. He has every right to govern based upon his principles and convictions. Do we not remember the Declaration and what the Founders did? Everything they did was based upon the freedom of religion and was governed by their principles and convictions.
About Obama being a Christian. Ultimately I will refer this issue to God, but all I can go by is based upon what he has said and done. Let's take John 14:6 (look it up if you don't know it) for example. Obama is on record of saying that he doesn't believe this. Now Christianity is not about picking and choosing which words of Christ you believe and which ones you can toss away. If Jesus said He is THE way and THE truth, then HE IS. The great Barack Obama does not have the ability nor the authority to disregard what the true Messiah said.
Second....when asked about homosexuality and the Bible Obama never really formulated much of an opinion because he claimed the Bible contained obsure passages in Romans and that Jesus never really addressed it. Wrong, wrong, absolutely wrong. This is terrible hermaneutical interpretation of Scripture and another example of selecting certain passages of Scripture to believe in. It might be politically correct for him to do this, but ultimately he will be held accountable for this.
Third...when asked when does life begin the great Obama responded by saying that this question was above his pay grade. Well if he truly believed Scripture then he would know that the answer is there plain and simple.
I am not worried about Obama forcing me to do anything. But the Fairness Doctrine is now a real possibility and if it passes then it could provide the government an opportunity to label anti-homosexual speech as a hate crime thus resulting in an intrusion upon our churches. Given this choice of preaching the Gospel or bowing to the government, well...there actually is no choice.
I have not been over dramatic. Everything I have said about Obama has been fact, not something created. I have paid attention to things he has said and to things he has done in the past. As a minister I deal with truth and reality. Most of the problems I have with Obama is that his worldview is very anti-biblical and that is the essence in which I deal with.
My charge in life is to speak truth clearly and battle when it is attacked. When Obama compares himself to Lincoln I will battle that, because Lincoln was totally against redistribution of wealth orchestrated by the government. But more than this...when Obama misquotes or misapplies the principles of Scripture, I will battle that full force because I have a responsibility to "tend to my flock" and to "fight off the wolves."
Oh yeah, if the world crashes it will be because God wills it, not because of me or Obama. My goal is to make sure people know and understand the views of the next President whom they have elected.

The fact that American's themselves have pulled the wool over our eyes sadden's me. The fact that so many people voted for someone who sounds good to hear but is polluted on the inside shames me. I love this country but I think as a whole America has killed the very being of this great land. I will pray for this country, and for our President-elect because he has been put in a position of leadership, but I will not respect him, respect is earned not bought.
